Hey Everyone, just wanted to let you all know that Sara Bonert (Director of Broker Services from Zillow) will be coming to ARU and sharing some tools you can use to bring greater value to your ActiveRain Blogs and readers.
She'll be sharing things like how to use Zestimates, Zillow Advice, Advertising, Widgets, Free stuff and more on your ActiveRain Blogs. Sara travels all over the Country for Zillow teaching industry professionals how to get the most out of their online time and social media efforts.
If you've never heard or seen Sara speak or present, she's really good and she knows her stuff. I'd encourage everyone to try and come to this class. Reserve your seat for Monday's class (March 29, 2010 - 9:00am - 10:00am PDT) by pre-registering early.
Sara is an expert and is coming to share her knowledge and expertise with us, so come support her and learn at the same time. She's a long-time ActiveRain member who provides some great content on her Blog. As I watch Zillow, I must remember they are a business. I use them as a tool now that I understand their strengths and weaknesses...

I know Zillow gets a good bit of attention but I have always had problems with their Zesitmates. Until they can get access to more data to get their estimates in line they seem to hurt more then help. We have had a local rep here at the office from Zillow.
I've learned some good stuff from Sara's post. She's great for sharing information.

Great, I've used Zillow in the past, but recently Zillow has had difficulty keeping up with our ever changing foreclosure market, and typically shows values higher than they actually are. Should be an interesting class.

Like all the aggregator sites, zillow has strengths and issues. My brokerage has a super enhanced/featured lisitng relationship and I work to keep my listing up to date even with feed issues.
As a small but very important note, be careful embedding zillow and trulia widgets into your website or blog. If a user clicks on them and gets to their site, they are out of your blog! And when Mr. Top Agent's ad flashes up with his 100 super listings, you may have lost the opportunity. Or if Ms. High Spending agent;s ad flashed with "50% commission rebate", you may have lost the lead...and then there's the "top area agent" lists that are actually paid positions. For the widgets, you can fiddle with html to get the info in but block getting out to their site, but there are also implications with that!

Recently, my clients were on their iPhones, checking Zestimates for each house as we drove to the next one. Whether agents like or dislike Zillow, it wouldn't be wise to ignore it!

This class will be a great opportunity to understand more about Zillow and the tools they offer to both consumers and industry. Regardless of what you may have heard, think, or feel, your clients and the Real Estate consumers do have access to a variety and multitude of tools, products, and online services including ActiveRain and Zillow.
It's always best to try and fully understand how these tools are used and even perceived to get the maximum value and understanding of them. Come ask questions, get educated, learn more of the "How and Why" Zillow can bring more value to your AR Blogs and posts.
Sara will be answering questions and addressing your comments and concerns toward the end of the class. These are not just presentations guys, these are "classes" where you are able to interact and engage in conversation with our presenters. Nobody knows Zillow like Sara so I hope you'll all take full advantage of this opportunity.

Zillow is not popular in our rural area - we do not have Zestimates. However, the widgets and the Zillow Advice are very useful to us.
