Need incite on the real estate market in Coastal Maine

Have clients who are interested in retiring in the Kennebunk to Portland area or Portland to BoothBay Harbor area.  This is a 2 year plan, so there's no rush, however, would like to start gathering details so that we don't miss out on a great opportunity under the prevailing trends. Comments on the communities and real estate markets in the area will be greatly appreciated.

For Us Northern Folks... Don't Winterize... Keep the heat low if you can afford to.

Many snow birds have returned home this Spring to find their plumbing in shambles.  It seams like the cold spell that we endured in January, really hit homeowners hard if they turned off their heating systems this year. My plumbing sources tell me that even though many of these property owners took some precautions to winterize their homes prior to departing, the colder and longer than normal temperature cycles managed to infiltrate their plumbing systems.  Even with the plumbing intact, many have returned to find their dishwashers, washing machines and ice makers (ain't that a trip) damaged by residual water left in the pumps and filters of these appliances. Note to the wise for next year: enlist a neighbor or friend to look in on your home periodically when you're away and leave the heat on LOW, about 55 degrees. If you're in the Southern Hemisphere, do it NOW!

Active Rain Success Story ~ 2 Accepted contracts in 7 days thanks to ActiveRain!

This is a perfect example of how a being a Rainmaker is Crucial to your success on ActiveRain!

Via Kristin Moran, CDPE ~ San Antonio,TX~Real Estate 210-313-7397 (RE/MAX Access ):

I have been blogging since August 2008 after lurking around for quite awhile.  I finally jumped in feet first & haven't stopped since.  It is fair to say that I am addicted.

I LOVE networking with other Realtors around the world (and in my own town!), sharing ideas, successes and helpful hints.

As a result of my blogging I have:

  1. Made friends
  2. Received Referrals
  3. Developed better marketing strategies
  4. Gotten ideas on developing our website
  5. Found out about & started using twitter & facebook
  6. Been interviewed by the San Antonio Express News Newspaper AND
  7. Closed deals

An exciting first for me occurred last week.  I had two buyers go under contract that were referred to me BECAUSE OF my blog on ActiveRain

Not just one, TWO!

Every time I read a success story it seems someone always asks "Where did the referral come from?"  So, I thought i'd save the mystery for ya'll!  The first found me while doing a search for property management & the second was a referral from an agent (right here on AR) in NC.

Now they are both under contract and set to close in May.

I write this post to tell anyone who hasn't received a referral not to get discouraged.  Keep on posting, developing relationships & learning new things.  If you enjoy that & can make some money in the process, all the more reason to continue, right?

Many, many, many THANKS to you ACTIVERAIN!  I sing your praises to everyone I can at every opportunity.

If I had to pay $634,231,965.00/month to continue my membership on ActiveRain, I would.  Right after I find out how much that would convert to with my bailout?

Bothell, WA Arterra Woods Condos

In the midst of the economic downturn, there are a few development companies that have pushed through and continued with their Condo conversions in the Greater Eastside.  One beautiful place to find a new Condo is Bothell Washington.

One Development in particlar is Arterra Woods, a recent condo conversion perfomed by Laag Constuction.

Kitchen

Arterra Woods is a beautiful example of how development companies can purchase a worn down apartment community and turn it into a luxurious, beautiful place to live.  As a result of the slowing housing market, they have converted it back to apartments with a lease to buy option, which is much more attractive to people who can't find financing in these slower times.

ExeriorThe Exterior is just as beautiful as the interior, with new siding, landscaping and clubhouse, they have completely renovated the property from the ground up.

Unmatched quality, inspired design, enduring value...High quality finishes, granite counter tops, stainless steel appliances...Small town ambiance and urban sophistication

Arterra Woods is a serene community located among beautiful scenery and plentiful shopping and entertainment. Hike, bike, swim, shop or golf just outside your door! All of our lavish homes include molded granite counter tops, fireplaces, spacious bedrooms and closet space, and beautiful new carpeting in the living areas and bedrooms, as well as decorative vinyl in the kitchen and baths. Our energy efficient appliances are sure to cut down on energy costs, and each apartment home comes with a full-sized washer/dryer set. The Lodge at Arterra Woods offers a relaxing clubhouse for residents to enjoy which includes a full size wood burning fireplace, equipped fitness center available 24 hours, indoor spa room, and sparkling pool and sundeck.
